Hills Summer & Winter Camp 2010
This program, run by the De La Salle Brothers offers
opportunities for young people to contribute their time, skills and talents to the Aboriginal community
of Wirrimanu Balgo Hills in Western Australia.
Volunteers provide support and offer recreational activities
to the local aboriginal community during the summer
school holiday period.
This program has been in operation
for eight years. The De La Salle Brothers who run Luurnpa
Catholic School, Balgo Hills offer volunteers an opportunity
to 'put their faith into action’ through this
volunteer program.
In January 2010 there will be two Balgo Summer Camp teams:
TEAM ONE: Monday 4th January-Thursday 14th January (Travel days included)
TEAM TWO: Wednesday 13th January-Saturday 23rd January (Travel days included)
In July 2010 there will be two Balgo Winter Camp teams:
TEAM ONE: Saturday 3rd July-Sunday 11th July (Travel days included)
TEAM TWO: Saturday 10th July-Saturday 18rd July (Travel days included)
Participants are required to cover their own flight expenses
to and from Alice Springs. In addition to these flight expenses, participants are required
to pay $100 for accommodation in Alice Springs
for 2 nights and for food during their time in Balgo. Participants are also required to attend an orientation day that will be scheduled before thier trip out.
