Mrs Janice Woodford - Benefaction 19 August 2018

On a very chilly Sunday (19 August 2018) at the Brothers' House at Malvern, family, friends and Brothers gathered for the Benefaction Ceremony and Lunch in honour of Mrs Janice Woodford.  Br Michael Carroll, Director welcomed the invited guests to the place where Janice had worked for the past 20 Years the home of the Brothers.  Br Paul Smith read the citation in support of Janice's Benefaction.

In part it read: "To pay tribute to Janice and her outstanding dedication over these 20 years, the Malvern community of Brothers wish to honour her with the title of Benefactor.  Janice saw her service to the Brothers, not merely as a duty to work, but more as a vocation to make the Brothers' house a home.  This applied not just to the Brothers in residence, but also to those numerous visitors who stayed with the community.  Our many visitors would comment on our hospitality, and in doing so, would also commend Janice, (sometimes personally) for the "small homely touches" that he so happily brought to the room in which they stayed.  This aspect of hospitality, to which the Malvern Brothers strive, would be so inferior if it were not for the willing and diligent contribution made by Janice.  To quote the Book of Proverbs, Janice "is a valiant woman, a pearl od great price, who initiates good, does not neglect her tasks, and takes great pride in all that she does."

Br Tim Peter Auxiliary Visitor (designate) acting for the Brother Visitor bestowed Janice with the title Benefactor of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools.  In her response, Janice expressed her sincere thanks for the honour in a humble way, which really expressed her 20 Years of Service to the Brothers of the Malvern Community.

After the Benefaction Ceremony all moved to the De La Salle College Hall for a fine luncheon where Br Michael McCabe in his  role as M.C. ensured that  the celebration continued in a lively and engaging way.
