Pope Francis has invited Catholics to join him and Marian shrines around the world in a month-long global prayer chain "for an end to the pandemic" of COVID-19. The initiative, which the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization announced on April 21, will take place during all of May, the month traditionally dedicated to honouring the Blessed Virgin Mary. The pontifical council said it was the Pope's "desire" that the project be placed under the theme "the whole Church was fervently praying to God" (Acts 12, 5)."The initiative will involve all the Shrines of the world in a special way, so that they might encourage the faithful, families, and communities to recite the rosary," it said.
