After five years of dedicated leadership, Mrs Regina Menz will conclude her Principalship of O’Connor Catholic College at the end of 2021.
During her time at O’Connor, Regina showed authentic pedagogical leadership: she understood contemporary teaching and learning. A focus on encouraging success, and mapping suitable pathways for students, was accompanied by a genuine commitment to the Lasallian and Ursuline charisms.
Attending the College, time spent in the Principal’s office was always interesting. Basic and functional, the room contained few creature comforts: an upright desk at which the Principal stood; a simple meeting table surounded by several chairs; many photos of O’Connor students adorning the walls, all interspersed with appropriate educational posters and charts. No trappings of high office. This was no showroom, this was a educator’s workroom.
If furnishings were sparse they were in stark contrast with Principal herself. High energy, affable, no nonsense, quick to smile, Regina was a leader who knew her kids and clearly showed deep commitment to them.
Although we will miss her, Regina’s move into the Catholic Schools Office, Armidale, will enable her broad experience and many skills to be shared widely with Catholic schools in the diocese. O’Connor’s loss is the diocesan gain. Farewell, Regina!
CSO Armidale will shortly commence the process of appointing Regina’s replacement for 2022.
