Dear Brothers,

The purpose of this letter is to notify you formally of the convocation of the ANZPPNG District Chapter 2018.

The District Chapter is to be held from 8th to 11th July 2018 at The Hermitage Retreat and Spirituality Centre, Mittagong.

The Chapter will be preceded by a District Mission Assembly, to be held at The Hermitage from 15th to 18th April 2018.

A Mission Assembly and District Chapter Preparatory Commission has been established to coordinate preparations for the Chapter. The members of the commission are:

Tracy Adams (Chair); Brothers Chris Gorringe, Thomas Yapo and Lewis Harwood; Merv McCormack and Julie Alibrandi (Lasallian Mission Services); Chris Barrett (Consultant). Chris Barrett has also been engaged as facilitator of the Assembly and Chapter.

A key mandate of the Preparatory Commission is to facilitate the development of a new draft District Strategic Plan 2018-2021, for discernment and validation ultimately by the Chapter delegates.

A broad consultation process is already under way so as to ensure that all Brothers (and lay partners) have opportunities to contribute to the strategic direction of the District.

As determined by the District Council at its meeting of 13th October 2017, the membership of the District Chapter is to comprise twenty elected delegates, plus Brother Visitor and the members of the District Council as members by right.

Delegates will be elected in conformity with the Rule (Article 140) which requires that the procedure ensures a balanced representation of Brothers according to age-groups, competence, functions and geographical areas.

All Brothers of the ANZPPNG District have the right to participate in the ballot for membership of the Chapter and the right to be elected as delegates.

A representative number of Lasallian partners who attended the Mission Assembly will attend part of District Chapter to report on the outcomes of the Assembly.

The election process will be conducted electronically in November 2017 and the results will be published as soon as possible, so that elected delegates can plan their calendars accordingly.

The procedure for voting and for ensuring conformity with Rule 140 will be outlined when the ballot papers are distributed.

I ask that you keep the future of the District in your prayers at this important time.

Yours fraternally,

Br David Hawke FSC Visitor
