Students from Oakhill College participated in this year's Celebrate the West fundraising initiative by yourtown.
The annual event raises vital funds for the San Miguel Family Centre near Richmond, which was founded by Lasallian Br Finbar Kelly in 1976. San Miguel is well known for providing crisis accommodation for families with children who are homeless and or in need of a supportive environment.
Celebrate the West also served as an opportunity to pay tribute to some of the region's most prominent figures who have helped champion and advance the local community of Western Sydney.
The Year 11 Oakhill students learned about the importance of the wider community, inspired by guest speakers and award recipients; such as world-leading neurologist, Charlie Teo, Harvey Norman franchise founder, Gerry Harvey and former Australian politician, Peter Anderson.
On the night, students assisted with ushering guests and selling raffle tickets and were accompanied by the Director of Mission, Chris Goodman; Lasallian Youth Minister, Richie Leilua; Brother David Zanthe and Brother Michael Fitzgerald from the Brothers community in Castle Hill.
