The Principal of La Salle Hohola Youth Development Centre, Br Antony Swamy shares his thoughts on examination preparation at his school in November:
"The past weeks have been quite busy here! The National Exam FODE (Flexible and Open Distance Education) - took place, with 232 of our Year 10 students taking the exams in English, Math, Science, Commerce and Social Science. The exams were quite taxing upon the students but most came out of the exam feeling confident, that our teachers had prepared them for the challenge.
We are now preparing for our Year 11 graduation that will take place, Wednesday, November 18th with 140 students receiving their National Certificate 1 from the Department of Education; this is the first time in the 41 years of the school's existence that we are receiving the Certificate showing government approval.
Many years of hard work and effort by the previous Brothers/Sisters and lay colleagues have laid the foundation for this stamp of certification. Our Year 10 (232 students) graduation will follow on Friday, November 20th in the Brother Leo Scollen's Memorial Hall, concluding a busy week for all!
Update on grants received; La Salle has received a 100,000 Kina (48 thousand Australian dollars) worth of science equipment from the Department of Education - a generous gift, which was in dire, need and will be of great use to our future students.
The 1st phase of (our new building Project) Incentive fund Concept Proposal has been approved. The 6.5 million Kina (3.1 million Australian dollars) building will be a new home of our faculty staff room, library, meeting rooms, Chapel, Tourism and Hospitality Practical & Theory Room and office Administration (Business Studies) Classroom and 6 single Teacher Housing.
The Strategic Management Group has approved the concept and now will continue assessing the proposal in a 5-stage process. We have great confidence and trust in God's Providence, please continue to pray for the successful outcome!"
