Thanks to Lasallian Response for COVID-19. You reached our homes to help us. We thank all Lasallians for your generous support," said Mrs. Malar, one of the beneficiaries who lost her arm during the civil war. It was a great help to the family. There are so many people like Malar who benefited from #LaSalleCovid19- Lasallian Response.
The outbreak of COVID-19 in Sri Lanka obstructed all daily activities of the entire country from mid-March 2020. The Government imposed an island-wide curfew to restrict the movement of the people. This situation reduced the economic activities in the country and adversely affected the people depending on daily wages, women led families, families with elderly parents and differently abled members, internally displaced people, war affected families, families with a large number of children, financially backward families, etc.
Their main concern was to feed their families and to prevent hunger. Some were managing with what they had but most of them, especially those who were in remote areas, were not able to find food for their families.
Rising to the urgent call created by this appalling situation, the Lasallians in Sri Lanka immediately started working to find ways and means to reach out to the poor, needy and marginalised people in society. They
were able to draw from their limited resources to help a few families around the Communities.
