Farewell, Old Boy

On Founders Day, Friday 7 April - the College community of De La Salle Caringbah, farewelled beloved and respected teacher of 42 years, Mr Kevin Nielson.

Kevin's association with the College began in 1976 when he was offered a teaching position by Principal Brother Killian Ray, which he has held consecutively until his very last day.

Kevin's experienced different teaching appointments throughout his time at Caringbah, including ten years as a Pastoral Care coordinator and Mathematics Coordinator. He leaves behind outstanding legacies, especially for the College's pastoral care program.

"One of Kevin's outstanding legacies for the College is the leadership displayed during his pastoral care role, which, to this day still underpins the College's pastoral care policy.

Many past students still remember the help, support and compassion he always provided," said Principal Chris Agnew.

Merv McCormack, Executive Director of Lasallian Mission Council added, "What an amazing accomplishment, 42 years of dedicated service to the students and staff of De La Salle College, Caringbah. A respected teacher, coordinator, coach, colleague and friend," said Merv McCormack.

"Mr Neilson's warmth, commitment to the College and positivity for all things Caringbah De La Salle, will have a lasting legacy at the College," concluded Principal Chris Agnew.

Moved with emotion, Mr Nielson humble and grateful for his time at De La Salle Caringbah imparted some final words of wisdom for all students. "Just always remember that everyone is here for you. Everyone is looking after you. Look around you. You're not alone."

Mr Kevin Neilson, thank you. You will be greatly missed.
