It gives me great pleasure to inform you of the appointment of Professor Zlatko Skrbis as the University's fourth Vice-Chancellor and President.
Professor Skrbis was appointed after an international search to replace Professor Greg Craven AO GCSG, who is retiring after 13 years at the helm of ACU.
Before joining ACU, Professor Skrbis held senior executive roles at the University of Queensland and Monash University. He joined ACU in 2018 as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education).
Professor Skrbis holds a PhD in Sociology and has a distinguished and current international research profile in the fields of migration, social theory, and youth studies.
As Deputy-Vice-Chancellor Education and Innovation, and more recently as acting Provost, Professor Skrbis has established himself as playing a fundamental role in the future of the University.
Professor Skrbis has been instrumental in establishing a transformative program of work at ACU, which is focused on creating new and mission-based value for the University. He has built a distinguished international research profile and is committed to the tradition of Catholic higher education.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Professor Craven for his service to ACU and its community. His leadership has seen the University expand and grow, while his contributions to the Church and to external forums in higher education and government have strengthened the University's profile and standing.
Professor Skrbis will commence in the role of Vice-Chancellor and President on Monday 11 January 2021 and an inauguration ceremony will be held in the new year.
