Francis Douglas Memorial College students pitch in for Caritas NZ

Students from Francis Douglas Memorial College at New Plymouth have raised nearly four thousand dollars to assist Caritas New Zealand in its aid projects across the Asia-Pacific region.

De La Salle Brother and Caritas NZ Program Manager Adrian Watson received a cheque for $3875.80 from the all boys school during a ceremony to mark Founder's Day on 3rd June.

The aid agency supports projects in disadvantaged communities across a range of countries, including Papua New Guinea, Cambodia, Afghanistan and the Philippines.

Students from Francis Douglas Memorial College have also been providing support to the needy around New Plymouth through donating perishable goods to a local Foodbank program.

It is part of a strong Lasallian service program at the college which includes volunteer work at the St Vincent De Paul Opportunity Shop and with local community organisations including the Riding for Disabled Association and the YMCA.
