Congratulations to Holy Spirit College Lakemba which has been included on an annual Honour List recognising Australia's best school libraries.
A panel of school library experts went through hundreds of nominations from across the country in compiling the list, showcasing libraries that promote student learning and discovery.
Nearly 600 students, teachers, parents, principals and other school staff submitted entries in the competition, organised by Freedom of Access to Information and Resources (FAIR) and the Australian School Library Association.
The panel of judges assessed each library according to strict criteria including whether they helped children and young people find reliable information and to use that information effectively.
School libraries honoured on the list also had to demonstrate that they were helping students to think critically, build knowledge and understanding of the world and safely navigate the internet.
Holy Spirit College Lakemba Principal Phillip Scollard was issued with a certificate of achievement from the Australian School Library Associations for making the honour list.
The competition organisers wanted to personally congratulate principals who invest in qualified library staff and well funded libraries.
