In a spirit of interfaith harmony, Christian and Muslim school students and alumni from six Lasallian schools in Pakistan have come together for the inaugural Lasallian Youth Gathering in the country.
The event from 29 October to 1 November brought together 140 participants from schools in Faisalabad, Multan and Khushpur.
The gathering was hosted by La Salle High School and College in Faisalabad.
The school's Principal, Auxiliary Visitor Br Shahzad Gill played a pivotal role in organising the event, working alongside the Lasallian Youth Minister for Pakistan, Br Rehman Javed.
Australia was represented at the event by the Director of Young Lasallians, Br Anthony Cummins and Youth Ministry Coordinator Philippe Dulawan.
In a country with a predominately Muslim population, the Lasallians have played a constructive role over many years in promoting interfaith friendship with many Muslim students attending Lasallian schools in Pakistan.
The Youth Gathering was an opportunity for Lasallians across the schools in Pakistan to come together for a community event, given they had previously only tended to meet for sporting competitions.
The gathering was so successful that organisers expect it now to become an annual event.
