International Ignatian Ecospiritual Conference - April 2022

Posted by CRA on 7 December 2021

I write to you on behalf of the Jesuits who are organising a week-long Ecospirituality Conference next year.  Catholic Religious Australia (CRA) has put its support behind this Conference by circulating information and we hope you will too.

The International Conference is being held online from 25-30 April 2022 and will bring together people from all parts of the world who are concerned about caring for our common home.  The aim of the conference is to deepen our connection with Mother Earth through greater ‘ecological conversion’.

We cannot deny the importance of such an event which supports Pope Francis’ call for us all to commit to caring for our common home, through his encyclical Laudato Si.  The Australian Catholic Bishops Conference dedicated their Social Justice Statement this year to the same and the Ecology Alliance Committee of CRA was established recently in recognition of, and in response to the need for ecological conversion from the ground up through our membership.

Attached you will find  a letter from the Provincial of the Australian Jesuit Province, Quyen Vu SJ inviting potential sponsors to partner with them in support of the International Ignatian Ecospiritual Conference.    I urge you to promote this seminar and support it in any way you can.  No donation will be considered too small, however, a schedule of sponsorship packages on offer is attached for your consideration.

If you have any queries at all, please contact: Dr Peter Saunders, who heads the organising Committee for the International Ignatian Ecospiritual Conference for the Society of Jesus in Australia.   You can email Peter on: admin@iiec.org.au or telephone him on: +61 421 643 705.
