Joy. Fun. Laughter. Enthusiasm. Community. Connectedness. All of these flowed from the Gleeson Auditorium at ACU Strathfield (Sydney) on Tuesday the 21st of August. The event was yet another successful Young Lasallians Evening, hosted by the Young Lasallians Team. This Evening gathering was uniquely energetic as it was also the official Launch Party for next year's Lasallian Youth Gathering (to be hosted in Melbourne.
Nearly 100 Lasallian students, teachers, Brothers, Youth Ministers, and friends enjoyed one another's company as well as pizza, music, games, launching LYG paper planes, and the opportunity to begin thinking and talking about the significance of the Tercentenary Year. Philippe Dulawan (Senior Youth Ministry Cordinator) shared a powerful reflection that began to unpack the theme of both the Tercentenary and LYG: "One Heart. One Commitment. One Life." He emphasised that the Tercentenary is a celebration of the ongoing Lasallian story, which is ours to take into the future.
Students sang and danced along with a live band, led by Damian Khoury (Youth Ministry Coordinator), Sebastian Duhau (Retreats and Programs Coordinator), and Shane Soans who used their musical talents to animate the crowd and provide a tangible experience of the theme. Jordan Bottalico, Youth Minister at De La Salle College, Ashfield used his DJ skills in warming up the crowd during dinner. Students helped bring a uniquely Australian flavour to the Tercentenary theme song with great energy and enthusiasm, a highlight of the evening.
