LA SALLE CENTRE BLESSING AND OPENING

As of the Thursday 5 September, Provincial Office and Lasallian Mission Services staff ceased working at 26 Meredith Street, Bankstown and moved to Level 4, Flinders Centre, 25 Restwell Street, Bankstown.
Members of the District Council, Lasallian Mission Council Board, Lasallian Mission Services and Provincial Office staff came together to celebrate the official opening of the new office "La Salle Centre" on Thursday 14 November. Special guests included Mark Condi, CEO and Shane Mount, Chaplain of the Bankstown Sports Club.

Br David Hawke, Visitor, provided the following reflection:

"We sang in the chorus of the opening song: "Here I am Lord" but we can all say, "here we are Lord". Here we are having moved from 26 Meredith Street to the Flinders Centre and our newly named La Salle Centre.

It is said that moving locations can be one of the most stressful times in a person's life. There may have been some stress during the move, but overall it went very smoothly due in no small way to the work of Pauline Toms, Office Manager, and Peter Cartwright, Director of Finance, along with their collaborators.

It is uplifting and invigorating to move to brand new premises and for some of us, it's even a room with a view. And what a bonus having a barista downstairs not to forget the facilities of Bankstown Sports.

Without exception, I think we all admire Pope Francis and the second reading today offers some food for thought as we embark upon a new chapter in the District's story here at La Salle Centre.

Pope Francis invites us to:

  • Share our lives with others
  • Generously give of ourselves
  • To realise that every person is worthy of our giving
  • If I can help at least one person to have a better life etc

Let's think of these encouraging words in terms of both our work together with each other here, our work as Lasallian Mission Council or the Trustees and our work out of this centre across the District. Yes, we are ambassadors as St La Salle reminds us in the first reading.

Inside the front cover, we are reminded that we are about mission and that it is a collaborative effort as we Lasallians are entrusted with the Lasallian educational mission. Let us be ever mindful of the mission as we work in and beyond La Salle Centre."
