The 7th of April marked a special and honorable celebration in De La Salle Multan in Pakistan. On Sunday, La Salle Multan celebrated the Tercentenary of Saint John Baptist De La Salle by the Chief Guest and Bishop of the Catholic Diocese in Multan, Bishop Benny Travis. La Salle Multan also welcomed Auxiliary Visitor, Br Tim Peter to attend the mass with the students and teachers of the school.
Bishop Benny Travis opened the mass with a reception Ceremony based on the theme of 'One Heart, One Commitment, One Life' with the releasing of balloons in the air accompanied by Br Peter and Br Shahzad Gill. This theme also underlies this year's Lasallian Youth Gathering that begins on the 13th of April uniting young Lasallians from both Pakistan and Australia. After the opening ceremony, the Bishop then led the congregation in a solemn high mass to honour the services of John Baptist De La Salle.
Following the mass, students of De La Salle Multan performed welcoming ceremonies on the life, efforts and services of Saint John Baptist De La Salle as well as the laying of the foundations of the De La Salle Brothers. La Salle Multan's sister schools, St Solomon's and St Alban's performed a cultural dance and a tableau on Women's Education. Bishop Benny Travis applauded the Brothers for their extensive effort in bringing everyone together for such a special celebration of the legacy of St John Baptist de La Salle. The commitment and transforming of lives that the brothers achieve daily was highly commended by the Bishop. Expressing his gratitude, Br Tim thanked the Bishop, principal and students for their performances. Br Tim reflected on the powerful theme of 'One Heart, One Commitment, One Life' and spoke of the necessity to understand, commit and to implement the deeper understanding of mission in our lives.
