La Salle student to represent Australia

Year 11 student Nikita Mawhirt from La Salle College in WA, is set to represent Australia in the Youth World Championships in Prague and the Junior World Championships in Budapest - a stepping stone to the Olympic Games.

It comes down to Nikita's sheer determination and unwavering commitment to succeed in sport and her passion for Modern Pentathlon.

If you're lacking motivation, the Pentathlon is a gruelling series of five different sporting events consisting of a 200-metre freestyle swim, fencing, show jumping and a final combined event of pistol shooting and cross-country running. This event is a 4 x 800-metre relay, combined with five shots of a laser pistol and timed at 50 seconds for each shooting round.

Nikita is dedicated to her training and enjoys competing for the College in various sports, also securing her position on the ACC Athletics, Cross Country and Swimming Teams since Year 7.

Nikita is a fine example of her personal 'commitment to excellence.'
