LASALLIAN FOUNDATION

Dear Lasallians,

The Lasallian Foundation over its 14 years has helped provide for some of the most needy in our society, supporting projects across our District and beyond that make a real difference to peoples' lives.

It is with great sadness that the Lasallian Mission Council has accepted the advice and decision of the Foundation's Board to commence winding up its operations by the end of 2018.

The decision has been reached by the Foundation in light of the inability to secure sustainable funding to support its ongoing operations into 2019 and beyond.

This is a very sad development given the enormous work and contribution of the Lasallian Foundation over many years however we fully understand that the decision by their Board is necessary given the financial circumstances and their governance obligations.

The De La Salle Brothers and the Lasallian Mission Council would like to thank the Lasallian Foundation Board, its staff and volunteers, both past and present, for their enormous contribution to the lives of some of the most needy across the Asia Pacific region

We would like to acknowledge specifically the committed leadership of the successive Board Chairs of the Foundation Mr Tony Smith, Ms Sally Nicholes, Mr Paul Guest and Mr John Harry. The passionate commitment and expertise of the Foundation's two Chief Executive Officers - Br Paul Smith followed by Ms Miranda Chow - are also accorded deserved recognition, with Miranda also acknowledged for her earlier key role as Project Officer. Their energy and dedication have indeed been inspirational and have led to such a positive difference being made for needy young people.

To the donors over the many years of the Foundation's operation including the students past and present of our De La Salle Schools we thank you for your enormous generosity.

The De la Salle Brothers and the Lasallian Mission Council are committed to continuing the work of the Foundation, building on its legacy and providing opportunities to continue to support these vital works that have made such a difference in many lives.

We are pleased to announce that the Lasallian Mission Council will be continuing the important work of the 'schools twinning' program that was jointly developed over the last three years by the Foundation and the Council.

The 'twinning program' will be continuing in 2019 and will provide the ongoing opportunity for Lasallian schools in Australia and New Zealand and their students to continue to contribute to targeted projects in schools overseas.

The Council will be shortly writing to all schools about the planned operation of the program in 2019. In the meantime, Merv McCormack (mervmccormack@delasalle.org.au) and Julie Alibrandi (juliealibrandi@delasalle.org.au) are available to answer any immediate enquiries and can be contacted by telephone +61 (2) 9795 6464.

The Council will also be announcing in coming months other initiatives aimed at continuing the vital work of the Foundation into 2019 and beyond including partnerships with other charitable organisations.

As we work through this process we will continue to keep you informed as and when developments occur.

Again we would like to pay tribute to the hard work of everyone at the Lasallian Foundation and the generosity of all donors who have made such important projects possible.

Yours sincerely,
