On Sunday the 11th of August, the annual and iconic "City to Surf" event was held in Sydney. This race dates back to 1971 when 1500 people participated and ran the 14km run from Hyde Park to Bondi Beach. This year over 75,000 people ran, jogged and walked this famous race. This year we encouraged Lasallians to enter and promote the Lasallian spirit in this "Year of Vocations" for the Tercentenary.
Two Lasallian Volunteers, a Lasallian Youth Minister and Lasallian Brother participated in the event. Our intention was to promote the awareness of the various expressions of Lasallian vocations the many faces, many voices and many ways to engage in this wonderful mission.
At various stages of our journey, we shared and spoke to lots of people who were keen to find out more about the Lasallian family and vocations. There was a special atmosphere in Sydney this day with families and people of all ages and backgrounds completing the race.
We managed to overcome "heartbreak hill" in solidarity and with a healthy dose of "positive thinking and persistence".
Please set your calendars for next year's race in August we want to see you there!
