Mr Stephen Kennaugh, Principal of De La Salle College Ashfield, has been appointed Principal of St Andrew's Catholic College Marayong, in the Diocese of Parramatta, effective from the commencement of 2019. On behalf of Br David Hawke, Visitor, the Lasallian Mission Council, and the Lasallian Mission Services' team, I offer Stephen our warmest congratulations on his new appointment. I sincerely thank him for his committed work at DLS over the past five years, and for his enthusiastic embrace of the Lasallian heritage.
An edited extract from Stephen's letter to his College community reads:
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Principal of De La Salle College Ashfield since 2014 and I am grateful to the staff, students, past students and their families for the loyalty and support shown to me during my time at the College.
I take delight in what has been accomplished as a community at De La Salle College Ashfield and where we are heading as a College. We will be the only boys school in the Inner West Region which is Newman Gifted and Talented accredited; we placed first in New South Wales in the International Science Competition in 2017; we have pioneered work in Positive Psychology and Inquiry Based Learning; and our student leadership is taking our culture to another level, [which] means that there are even more exciting times ahead.
It was with great pride that we held our Centenary celebrations in 2016 which brought us together with a wonderful celebration of Mass and Dinner as a community, past and present. Working with the ex- students and De La Salle Brothers has been a highlight and it has been a privilege to be the Principal of such a wonderful school.
Sydney Catholic Schools will soon begin the recruitment for the next Principal and as a community you will be informed of this process.
