In October last year, I had the great privilege of being able to visit De La Salle College in Malta. It was a great opportunity to see how another Lasallian school operates on the other side of the world.
It was great to see we have so much in common through our shared Lasallian heritage and to have professional dialogue with colleagues overseas. Many of the curriculum changes and challenges that we face here in Australia are also facing schools all over the world.
It also provided a good opportunity to discuss best practices in teaching and incorporating the Lasallian ethos throughout a school.
During my visit I was able to share ideas, look at the different pastoral programs that are offered at the College and discuss how both St Michael's College, here in Adelaide, and De La Salle College in Malta run in accordance with the teachings of St John Baptist De La Salle.
It also allowed us to begin the process of exploring the potential for some sort of sister school relationship between the Colleges.
Thank you to the Director Brother Martin Borg FSC and the Staff at De La Salle College Malta for their hospitality in showing me around the school, sharing ideas, practices and undertaking professional dialogue.
I was able to bring this information and experience back to St Michael's College and share it with Staff and students.
