Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) is rolling out a new comprehensive music education program through Holy Spirit Catholic College throughout 2021.
Holy Spirit Lakemba's Amadeus program provides students with tailored music and arts education, along with new instruments. The current Year 7's have commenced lessons and the sheer joy they are experience is just tangible.
The college also has a state of the art performance space, making it the perfect base for students to begin their musical journey.
"The research is clear that the benefits for students who learn an instrument go well beyond the realms of music education," said Principal Phillip Scollard.
Music promotes wellbeing, boosts brain power, improves language skills, memory and coordination. It is a long standing fact that their is a significant link between mathematical expertise and the skills developed when learning an instruments."
The students at Holy Spirit will have the opportunity to learn the following instruments: violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, euphonium and the baritone horn.
