Jonathan Haddad, Lasallian Captain at Oakhill College Castle Hill, along with 50+ staff and students, have recently participated in The Ration Challenge and have raised over $31,000 for the 80 million refugees, asylum seekers and displaced people worldwide.
The Ration Challenge gives students the power to raise awareness by putting themselves in the shoes of a refugee; students learn about current global issues, develop empathy for others and feel empowered to make a difference in the world.
For one week, staff and students ate the same rations as a Syrian refugee. The money raised will provide emergency food, healthcare and life-saving support for people hit hardest by the coronavirus. And by sharing their experience, they will help create more empathy and compassion in society.
Oakhill College is proud to currently be the second-highest fundraising school in Australia, with schools contributing over $320,000 of the $1,000,000 already raised.
