After several months of hard work and rehearsals, the very talented De La Salle Ashfield College and Bethlehem College students are almost ready to present Oliver the Musical, the first musical for Ashfield since 2010, an initiative by Principal Stephen Kennaugh.
What is sure to be a spectacular production, this wonderful collaboration consists of 35 Year 8-12 students from across both colleges, 25 crew members and 80 Year 7 students singing the chorus. Responsible for the organisation is teacher, Jacinta Adamson from De La Salle College Ashfield, who said the students are extremely excited and can't wait for it to all come together.
"This is quite a big production not only for the students involved but for the entire school. We have so many people involved and helping out, even members from the local community," said Jacinta Adamson.
De La Salle College presents the story of Oliver, a young orphan who falls in with a group of pickpockets led by the Artful Dodger and masterminded by the criminal Fagin.
"This has been a unique opportunity for students who are putting in a lot of hard work and dedication, taking responsibility to practice and remember lines. Students have truly stepped up and have conducted themselves as professionals", added Jacinta.
With an open invitation to the local community, everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the show.
Performances will take place in the Hall at De La Salle College Ashfield on Friday 15 June 2018 and Saturday 16 June 2018.
