One year has passed since the explosion which destroyed much of the center of the Lebanese capital, Beirut. That terrible event killed 200 people, injured thousands, and severely damaged our three Lasallian Schools.
Immediately after the blast, a spirit of solidarity rose within our Lasallian network, allowing us to provide humanitarian aid to thousands of affected people and to restructure our educational centers.
One year after this tragedy, we have asked the Directors of our three Lasallian schools to tell us about that day, and the difficulties encountered during the past year.
"Where there is a will, there is a way".
"This quote from Winston Churchill reflects the efforts and determination of the entire educational team to continue its mission despite all difficulties. The October 2019 revolution and the Covid 19 pandemic have worsened our educational situation. Additionally, the fatal explosion of August 4 had catastrophic consequences on the school building.
Our main challenge was to continue to provide quality education.
We asked for help to overcome this unprecedented situation, and the aid we received allowed us to continue the educational mission without interruption ensuring a very high quality of teaching and learning. It also enabled us to carry out several activities and projects."
