Reed Mahoney, Parramatta Eels Rugby League Hooker dropped in virtually at Tutor Time for Years 7-9 at Oakhill College to talk about the 'Read to Succeed Program'.
The Read to Succeed Program was launch this year with the program continuing remotely due to COVID-19. Students can read e-books, e-audiobooks, listen to podcasts, read a blog or even an interesting website as well as, of course, books. Oakhill are also offering big rewards for reading. Virtual badges can be earned to gain real-life donuts, and students who complete the Principal's Award, will attend the Principal's Morning Tea later in the year.
Reed is currently studying at University and also coming back to the NRL from a foot injury. He talked to the boys about the importance of reading and wishes he had done more when he was younger, as he now sees the relevance of reading in his everyday life. He is overcoming a foot injury and a friend recommended he read 'The Champion's Comeback' which he's taking motivation and inspiration from as he continues his rehab journey.
We hope to see Reed on the footy field soon.
