Sector Head of Pakistan and Auxiliary Visitor, Br Shahzad George Gill, welcomed Brothers and family members who all gathered at St Mary and St Joseph Church in Mariamabad, Pakistan to witness the Perpetual Profession of Br Waseem Shamoun.The first Perpetual Profession to take place in a Brother's home village.
Fr Bashir AFSC was the Principal celebrant and in attendance were 25 De La Salle Brothers from the Sector of Pakistan, New Zealand and Australia (Brothers Rory Higgins, Pat Lynch, Joe Bufalo and Lewis Harwood).
The moving liturgy was enhanced by the Aspirants' music and choir in the church, which was also beautifully decorated for the occasion.
Fr Bashir's homily focussed on the contribution the Brothers have made to education, the commitment of Br Waseem and Brothers who are prepared to qualify themselves as educators both in Pakistan and overseas. The post-liturgy speeches were delivered by Br Sir Patrick Lynch, Br Waseem, his brother and Br Shahid.
