Religious Life at Southern Cross Catholic College

Hello to everyone in our wonderful community. The last couple of weeks have been busy and the religious life of our school continues to grow and develop as each week passes. Our Mustard Seed program completed its three week-cycle last week and our pre-prep students enjoyed a variety of activities involving fine and gross motor skills, getting to know you games and some prayerful meditation. The children and their parents felt much more at ease after the third session and the conversations really started to flow. The opportunity for the children to see each other prior to next year plays an important part in transition into school life.

As part of Brisbane Catholic Education's celebration of the Year of Youth, some of our Year 5 and 6 students were invited to attend a formation day at St Joseph's Bracken Ridge called: You Are The Now, Be a 5th Gospel.

This formation day provided a wonderful opportunity for our students to feel a sense of belonging with the broader church community, while also empowering them to b a 5th Gospel by living Catholic Social Teachings in their daily lives. It also created the space for our students to connect with and be inspired by engaging, energetic and joy-filled Year 9-11 students from surrounding high schools. It was a fantastic day and inspired ideas as to where we can take this type of formation at our own campus.
