WARAMI WELLAMABAMI

This phrase is from Dharug Language, the country in which the La Salle Centre Office resides in Bankstown. The phrase translates to "Hello, nice to see you, wherever you have come from".

In this significant week of NAIDOC, we acknowledge all the traditional owners of all the lands upon which the Lasallian family gather and have come from. We recognise the importance of reconciliation, learning,and listening to the stories of our Indigenous Owners as we pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

NAIDOC week, 4th - 11th of July, in Australia is a celebration of history, culture, and outstanding achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Each year has a theme, in which to focus on. The 2021 theme is, Heal Country.

In this year's theme, we look to our First Nations people to learn the significance of the cultural knowledge and understanding of Country as a part of Australia's National Heritage. These First Nations perspectives offer an enriching connection with the country, truly caring for our common home.
