"These matters are subject to civil legal proceedings and as such it is not appropriate to comment on material before the Courts.

"The De La Salle Brothers recognise and support the right of any person to choose this avenue to resolve their complaint.

"Reporting to the Authorities of any criminal conduct is fundamental to the justice process and we encourage any person with any evidence to take it to the Police for the appropriate investigation.

"We fully acknowledge that religious and lay people in our facilities committed criminal abuse against children and we are unreserved in our apology that these events ever happened.

"We also recognise that past responses to complaints about institutional abuse were not appropriate and we apologise for that.

"The De La Salle Brothers will continue to work to provide some healing through counselling, apology and monetary compensation to those who have experienced abuse in any of our facilities.

" We are a participating institution in the National Redress Scheme and information about lodging an application can be found at www.nationalredress.gov.au

"The De La Salle Brothers also provide assistance including counselling, apology and compensation to those who have been harmed. This is available by contacting our Professional Standards Office on (02) 9795 6400."- The De La Salle Brothers' Australia
