RIP Mr John Vassarotti

Posted by Peter Buxton on 12 March 2019

It is with great sadness that I write to inform you of the passing of Mr John Vassarotti. John was a teacher at De La Salle Caringbah for most of his teaching career and retired at the end of Term One last year. He was a valued and dedicated teacher, who was well-loved by staff and students.

John passed away yesterday, with his family around him, after a short battle with cancer. We have gathered the staff together for a short prayer for the repose of John's soul. Following this, we had an assembly to inform students and to pray together as a community. Our thoughts, prayers and support are with John's family at this time, especially his daughter Erin Rogers, who is a staff member at De La Salle Caringbah.

John's death may stir a range of thoughts and memories for the boys, especially as he taught many of our Years 8, 9 and ten students. This news may potentially raise memories with respect to your own family circumstances and history. I encourage you to talk to your sons about this tonight.

Eternal rest grant to him, 0 Lord, And let perpetual light shine upon him, May he rest in peace. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, Through the mercy of God, rest in peace
