I am writing to invite you and your extended family and friends to join our College community on Saturday 9th March for the conclusion of the Save Our Sons walk. Save Our Sons is a locally founded charity established to raise awareness and funds in order to find a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
As a Catholic Community we know one of the things which sets us apart is our desire and ability to support one another and to work together as a team. This day provides you and I, and all members of the College community with an opportunity to support the many individuals in our society who have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
The Save Our Sons walk is an annual event which aims to raise in excess of $1 million each year. The walk also plays a vital role in raising people's awareness of the existence of this condition. All those involved with the walk, including a team from Holy Spirit Catholic College will walk all week. The final day of the walk is a day of great celebration and community, working together to acknowledge those who have walked all week. This year the final day of the walk will conclude at Holy Spirit Catholic College with a day-long fair. This fair will allow us all to welcome those who have walked throughout the week to the finish line and it will be one final fundraising effort to support this very worthy charity. It is for this reason that we are asking all students to be in attendance in their sports uniform as a visible sign that our community is behind all those who live with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and 100% in support of this foundation.
Each and every day I am impressed by the genuine community which exists at Holy Spirit. I watch as staff, students and families alike work in partnership to support one another. This is yet another opportunity for all of us here at Holy Spirit to share this sense of community with the wider population.
If you work for a business which can advertise this event please contact the College Office so that they can send you copies of the flyer which is included with this letter.
Should you have any questions about the day or Save Our Sons, please do not hesitate to contact the College Office on (02) 9740 8099 or check the Save Our Sons website https://www.saveoursons.org.au/
I look forward to seeing each and everyone of you on Saturday 9th March for what will undoubtedly be a spectacular day of community celebration and support for Save Our Sons .
