St Michael's College student, Jennifer Roberts, has picked up a $15,000 scholarship to the International College of Hotel Management (ICHM) in Adelaide.
Jennifer was encouraged to apply for the scholarship after attending ICHM's Career Week in 2019, which she says was the best decision she could have made. 'Career Week ignited within me a strong passion for hospitality, daring me to dream about careers I had never considered previously', she says.
Jennifer will join ICHM in February, studying for the Bachelor of Business (Hospitality Management) and Master of International Hotel Management.
For every six months of study, ICHM students spend six months in industry on paid work integrated learning placementsin Australia in first year and anywhere in the world from second year.
'ICHM truly offers everything I could ever ask for post-school, and more! This includes its range of industry placements, the combination of academic and practical course structure and world-class facilities', says Jennifer.
In 2019, ICHM was named the best hotel and hospitality school in Australia for the quality of its student experience, according to the leading national Student Experience Survey. Close to 90% of students secure jobs in the industry immediately after graduating.
Jennifer was one of eight ICHM scholarship winners in 2021, with success based on a written submission and video presentation.
The majority of ICHM graduates are now in five-star hotels throughout Australia and overseas, many as general managers. Others have started their own entrepreneurial businesses and flourishing in fields such as marketing, project management, human resources and information technology.
Since inception in 1993, ICHM has awarded scholarships worth in excess of $3 million.
