The De La Salle Brothers today restated their commitment to the protection of children and vulnerable adults after a member of the Order was sentenced in a Brisbane Court today.
"The offences for which he has been sentenced represent a profound betrayal of the trust of children.
"To those whose lives have been affected as a result of the criminal abuse that they have suffered, we express our unreserved apology.
"These actions have caused great pain and suffering and for that we are truly remorseful.
"The De La Salle Brothers in Australia hope the judicial process which has now concluded brings some sense of justice to those who have suffered as a result of these actions.
"To all who have suffered the damaging effects of abuse, we reiterate our apology and seek to work with them to help bring healing to their lives", said Brother Ambrose Payne, Director of Professional Standards, De La Salle Brothers Australia.
