Students benefit from new contemporary learning environments

Recently special guests, students and staff of Southern Cross Catholic College in Scarborough celebrated the official opening and blessing of the new school facilities.

After four years of building works the secondary campus was blessed by Redcliffe Parish Priest, Fr Bob Harwood. The Hon. Yvette D'Ath, State Member for Redcliffe and Queensland Minister for Health and Ambulance Services and The Hon. Luke Howarth, Federal Member for Petrie and Assistant Minister for Youth and Employment Services unveiled a plaque commemorating the opening.

The occasion was attended by BCE Deputy Executive Director, Dr Doug Ashleigh, QCEC Executive Director, Dr Lee-Anne Perry, along with project architects, builders and representatives from the De La Salle Brothers and Brigidine Sisters.

College Principal Chris Campbell said the opening and blessing of the buildings completed the transformation of the secondary campus.

"For the past four years the secondary campus has gradually transformed into a place that is bright and welcoming for all students and staff, and is a contemporary learning environment in every aspect," Mr Campbell said.
