Summer Formation Programs Registration is Open!

We are excited to announce the opening of registration for the 2019 Lasallian Region of North America (RELAN) summer formation programs: the Brother John Johnston Institute of Contemporary Lasallian Practice, the Buttimer Institute of Lasallian Studies and the Lasallian Social Justice Institute!

Brother John Johnston Institute of Contemporary Lasallian Practice

This summer we will welcome a new cohort to the Johnston Institute. Over the course of two years, participants will gather at five in-person District sessions and one Regional session. Click here to view the dates and locations for all of the sessions, beginning with this summer's District sessions. The Johnston Institute is an intensive Lasallian formation and education program that focuses on deepening participants' understanding of De La Salle's story and vision, Lasallian pedagogy, and the Lasallian promotion of justice and Lasallian spirituality, while utilizing contemporary texts to inform and influence current and future Lasallian practice. The Cohort III Johnston program registration fee is $5,100.00. Upon registration, $2,550.00 will be due. The remaining amount will be invoiced in May 2020. Learn more about Johnston >

Buttimer Institute of Lasallian Studies

The Buttimer Institute is held for two weeks over the course of three consecutive years. This year, the Institute will be held from Sunday, June 23 through Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York. The Buttimer Institute is an intensive Lasallian formation and education program that studies the life, work and spirituality of Saint John Baptist de La Salle and the origins of the Lasallian educational mission. The number of participants for Buttimer I is limited to 40. The 2019 Buttimer program registration fee is $2,750.00. Learn more about Buttimer >

Lasallian Social Justice Institute (LSJI)

LSJI is a one-week formation and education program. This year, it will be held from Sunday, June 23 through Friday, June 28, 2019, at Common Ground Relief in New Orleans, Louisiana. LSJI is a Lasallian formation program that centers on the Gospel's call for peace and justice and our Lasallian invitation to "association for the educational service of the young, especially the poor." This summer's theme is "Environmental Justice." The number of participants is limited to 20 with a maximum of two from each ministry. The 2019 LSJI program registration is $1,000.00. Learn more about LSJI >

We ask you to consider inviting any Lasallians who might be interested in attending one of these formation programs. All who are engaged in Lasallian ministries are welcome to participate. Preference is given to RELAN participants for the Johnston Institute and LSJI, while the Buttimer Institute welcomes participants from the worldwide Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. Individuals who have participated in other Regional, District or local formation programs are welcome.

The program registration fees do not include travel. Registration and payment for all programs is online. Credit card payment is due at the time of registration. The registration deadline for all programs is Wednesday, May 15, 2019. If the program(s) is fully subscribed, a Google form link will be available on each program's webpage to begin a waiting list. If any participant spots become available, Christian Brothers Conference will contact participants in the order received from the Google form.

Detailed information about Johnston, Buttimer and LSJI, as well as online registration, may be found on the Christian Brothers Conference website. Please do not hesitate to contact Katie Christensen (kchristensen@cbconf.org) or me (slaitinen@cbconf.org) if you have any questions.
