TEAMING UP, TAKING RISKS : Year 7 Scarborough

Recently our newest members of Southern Cross Secondary Campus attended their first official camp. Excitement was high as the students loaded their gear on the bus, destined for Camp Mapleton. Over three days, students used teamwork, whilst being pushed outside of their comfort zone. It also allowed the Year 7 students to come together as a whole cohort, build new connections and strengthen old ones.

With the help of fabulous instructors, and equally fabulous teachers, each group participated in the following activities: Giant Swing, Climbing Wall, Archery, Gliding Possum, Flying Fox and Canoeing. Aside from activities, students also participated in a Trivia Night, where Mr Penfold set the stage alight as MC. The second afternoon saw the students showing off their sporting skills on the oval, and swimming abilities - 'Manu' bomb dives in the pool. This was followed by a movie night, and a chance to wind down.

Overall, this camp is a huge highlight for the year, and one that will not be forgotten quickly.

A huge thank-you to the staff who gave up their time away from work and family to help make the experience worthwhile for our students..
