To the Heights

During 16-19 April, Y Factor 2018 took place at St Gregory's College, Campbelltown a camp which provides a youth perspective on Catholicism for secondary school students and hosted by Sydney Catholic Youth.

The theme for 2018 was "to the heights" where students learned about God, Mary and the importance of the sacrament of Reconciliation, Brotherhood and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

This year the camp saw a big Lasallian influence with Lorraine Ladia, Casimir College alumni as MC, keynote speaker, camp activities coordinator and Youth Minister Richie Leilua from Oakhill College, Y factor leaders and alumni Eddy Noujam from De La Salle, Ashfield and Julie Vu from Holy Spirit College, Lakemba.

Holy Spirit College Lakemba Alumni Lenita Abouchabake, was present at the camp, where she led 80 students on the Wellbeing Warrior activity. Lenita is the founder of the organisation 'Wellbeing Warrior' a program designed to provide young people with an opportunity to become the best versions of themselves.

There were Lasallian student representatives from La Salle Bankstown, De La Salle Ashfield and De La Salle Revesby who participated at Y Factor 2018. La Salle Bankstown student Nathan Galvin-Valencia shared a testimony with the group about how the camp has made an impact on his faith. With the conclusion of Y Factor 2018, The students will now have an opportunity to share their experiences with their fellow students at their schools.
