In honouring St. De La Salle in this Jubilee Year, Amanda Proulx (Director of Young Lasallians) and Philippe Dulawan (Senior Youth Ministry Coordinator) are to be commended on very impressive presentations working together through the three sessions of each day, "One Heart," "One Life," "One Commitment."
Input papers by Joyce Smith (La Salle Academy, Lithgow) and Amber Calleja (MacKillop College, Bathurst) demonstrated how Lasallian charism is being favourably received.
Organiser, Dr. Angelo Belmonte (Leader: Faith Learning and Teaching, Catholic Education, Diocese of Bathurst) described the occasion as "How good!" and wrote that "teachers came away so positive and enthusiastic." Angelo is former student of De La Salle College, Orange and James Sheahan Catholic High School.
Bishop Michael McKenna attended the Bathurst day. There were some 300 at Dubbo and 500 at Bathurst.
At Dubbo Jenny Allen (Exec. Director of Schools) welcomed me as a De La Salle brother and guest. Towards end of the day I gave a brief talk.
"Thank you, St. John Baptist de La Salle, for your untiring efforts of encouragement and perseverance ... 300 years is a long time ... please help us in keeping our minds and hearts open to your promptings" (Prayer of a Lasallian in response to the occasion).
