The Lasallian Youth Minister for Papua New Guinea, Dagia Aka has demonstrated his formidable leadership skills, coordinating three separate events for secondary students on the same day at La Salle Technical College in Hohola.
Dagia was Vice Captain at Jubilee Catholic Secondary School in 2015 and took up his new role this year while embarking on tertiary studies in social work.
On 19th February, Dagia helped organise a Commissioning Mass for senior student leaders at La Salle Technical College, known until recently as Hohola Youth Development Centre (HYDC).
He also arranged a Big Brother/Big Sister Welcome for Year 9 students.
This is an annual event where senior students arrange a welcome for new junior students at the Lasallian school.
The senior students are responsible for arranging catering for the event and a series of icebreakers to help the junior students feel at home in their new environment.
Dagia also led an "It's Cool to be a Lasallian" retreat for Year 10 students.
The retreat is aimed at helping students new to a Lasallian school come to a deeper appreciation of Lasallian history and core values.
Dagia's strong coordination skills have led his former Principal at Jubilee School, Bernadette Ove to describe him as a future Prime Minister of PNG!
The La Salle Technical College currently has an enrolment of 600 students and has a proud history in vocational education.
It has a good track record in preparing students for employment in areas such as motor mechanics, carpentry and hospitality.
