Lasallians have once again made a difference.
During April 2017, six excited volunteers journeyed to a small city on the outskirts of Jakarta, Indonesia. While there, they spread their time working in the local school, St Antonius Dari Padua teaching English, Religion and running a Leadership retreat for senior students.
Evenings were spent at Mekar Lestari an orphanage affiliated with the school, here they ran homework session, games and Zumba classes for the children.
The group of volunteers deriving from all over the world were a mixed bag of personalities and skill sets. This diversity would make any outsider think the group was incompatible, but one thing united us all, we are Lasallian. Sharing our talents and contributing where needed, not only made for a dynamic group but also united all members.
Once again, the highlight of VLS Jakarta were the smiling faces of the children.
Although it was hard to say goodbye, we know that future trip will forever maintain the amazing relationship between Lasallians and St Antonius.
