The last three weeks has seen a number of generous people give their time and share their expertise across our Lasallian schools in Port Moresby.
As you may already know, Chantelle Jeffers from Warragul Victoria had no previous connection with anything Lasallian. She chose to contact the Lasallian Foundation, pay her own airfare and stayed for the duration of her school holidays. Chantelle gave demonstration lessons to the Maths teachers at LaSalle Hohola and also to the first year student teachers from Sacred Heart Teachers College in Bomana.
Sponsored by St Bede's College, Deputy Principal Ria Greene arrived at end of the school term and led religious education classes for the staff. These classes were well attended from all four Lasallian schools in Port Moresby and teachers from our Lasallian schools in the Central Province.
Across the course of the weekend, Ria guided the Share the Mission Volunteers and two Aspirants in a series of reflection activities for 2017. Ria also led staff through Lasallian Pedagogy and Spirituality, attending De La Salle Secondary School in Bomana, Jubilee Catholic Secondary School Boroko and LaSalle Technical College in Hohola. Ria was indeed kept very busy.
Jarrod Stent (IT) was also sponsored by St Bede's College spending time at both Sacred Heart Teachers College and LaSalle Hohola working with the IT staff in repairing and setting up networks as well as improving the knowledge base of those two IT departments. Jarrod's expertise was in high demand to fix this and that.
We sincerely thank all our volunteers for their generosity and marvellous commitment to the welfare of students and staff in PNG. A special thank you to Br Garry Coyte, Principal of St Bede's College Mentone - for all your support in making this happen.
