Adult Formation - Term 1 Highlights
Work continues with enthusiasm as the team accompanies and serves those leaders in our Ministries who support young people. Highlights from Term 1 include:
New Staff were welcomed across communities in Adelaide and Sydney via the Our Lasallian Compass program. In Adelaide and Sydney, new staff members gathered offsite to share in their reflections an initial experiences at their respective communities. The team also visited Oakhill College and offered an adapted program to over 50 staff as part of their staff spirituality day.
A large contingent of Lasallian leaders descended on Adelaide from 3- 5 March for the annual Lasallian Leaders’ Gathering (LLG) from 3- 5 March 2024. Hosted by St Michael’s College, the gathering drew Lasallians from each of the District’s four Sectors: Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Papua New Guinea for three days of personal and professional enrichment. Friendships were renewed and new colleagues were introduced. It was pleasing to note the number of colleagues for whom it was their first LLG. Delegates expressed appreciation for the event; “I honestly think it was one of the best!”
and “LLG reignited a passion for ensuring all staff at our school are aware of their responsibilities to carry and enliven the Lasallian values, so they become evident to all students”.
The yourtown Executive and Board Formation was held in April at the Ormiston retreat centre. Over two days, the yourtown team explored two questions:
- What value is there in being Lasallian?
- What are the threats and opportunities of being Lasallian into the future?
Following this, the first of three, twilight Formation sessions were held in yourtown sites in Milton, Deception Bay and Kingston. Over coming months, there will be similar sessions offered in Blacktown and online. This hybrid modality will be offered to cater to the 24/7 workforce of yourtown across many states in Australia.
Shortly after Easter, Philippe joined the Institute’s Formation Commission at the Generalate. The Commission built upon the work of the January CIL program which will be presented at the Lasallian Plenary assembly in July.
Julie, Br Tim and Br Rory attending the PARC#49 Conference in Tagaytay, Philippines. With the Conference endorsing a Regional Renewal Plan focused on a pathway towards greater collaboration, Julie and Br Tim will be working on a PARC Executive Committee which will enable closer ties between Lasallians across the Districts of PARC.
The DLS-Community Association Committee continued to meet with energy and enthusiasm towards its launch event on 14 June 2024. Brothers, Affiliates, Benefactors, Associates and Alumni will gather at Doltone House, Sydney for the launch event of DLS-CAN. A warm invitation is extended to all.
The term finished strong, with the Together for Mission cohort of 2024-2025 began in the April school holidays. This saw participants from Lasalle Bankstown, St Michael’s Adelaide, James Sheahan Orange, De La Salle College Malvern, Lasallian Mission Services, yourtown, Lasallian Family PNG. Br Saddique and other yourtown staff will join Exploring our Heritage and then continue in Block 2 in September, joining the 11 TFM participants.
Finally, the LMS team continues to be committed to delivering quality Formation programs and building collaborative spaces for Association. A renewal and uplift of programs is in progress and exciting opportunities are emerging for animating the Lasallian charism.
