Spreading Smiles and Hope: Lasallian’s Heartfelt Outreach

The Lasallian Youth Ministry team in Pakistan recently carried out a community outreach program to aid families residing in the disadvantaged areas of Malkhanwala. The young Lasallians in Faisalabad brought food to these families, and the shining smiles on the faces of the children in the community reminded them of the Lasallian mission to serve people in need.

The Lasallian Youth Ministry team works tirelessly to raise funds for a variety of causes throughout the year. However, during the observance of Lent and Ramadan, all fundraising activities are temporarily suspended. Despite this challenge, the team was able to create blessing bags thanks to the generosity of students from La Salle High School and College Faisalabad, as well as a grant from the Lasallian Foundation. These blessing bags are filled with essential items that will be distributed to those in need, providing them with the basic necessities for daily living. The team's dedication to serving their community is truly admirable and a testament to the values of the Lasallian mission.

With the help of Brothers Robin Mughal, Sajid Bashir, Zafar Daud, Aloysius Hurrell and Samuel Tabish, a total of 60 essential food packages were distributed to various communities in the Faisalabad region. These packages contained essential household goods like flour, rice, oil and snacks for kids. Thirty of these packages were given to the hardworking domestic staff of La Salle High School and College Faisalabad, while the remaining 30 packages and 100 packets of snacks were distributed to families residing in the Malkhanwala area. The distribution was done under the close supervision of the Brothers who ensured that the food packages reached the intended recipients safely and securely.

“The snacks were distributed to the kids and the children were very happy,” Br. Robin wrote.  “They were excited, as they know that whenever the Lasallian Youth come, they bring snacks for them.”

Br Armin Luistro, Superior General, encourages Lasallians to reach out to the peripheries and people in poverty to transform their lives. Programs such as this, where much-needed food is provided to people experiencing financial hardships, are able to be conducted through the generosity of donors to the Lasallian Foundation and the efforts fo the Faisalabad Youth Ministry team.
